Neighborhood Inequity

Context: Buckmaster said although the area has well-maintained homes, there are also many abandoned and vacant properties, and he views it all as a reflection of inequity. The homes in disrepair work to bring down the overall property values in low-income areas such as south and northeast Oklahoma City.

Context: White said an increase in renters has caused high residential turnover rates and disinvestment in parts of the community, including south Oklahoma City. Low community involvement in schools and local government, including low voter turnout, keeps those communities from improving.
